Plot Summary

SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE CURSE . . .

Disgraced wedding planner Zuri Davis is so relieved to be offered a job with Fairy Godmothers, Inc., she’s willing to trade the high-rise excitement of Chicago for the small-town charm of Ever After. Falling for one of her grooms, even unintentionally, was enough to destroy her career–and also to prove that all men are indeed frogs. But when she meets gorgeous B&B owner Phillip Charming, who definitely lives up to his name, even she is tempted to test that theory . . .

AND SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE CURE

Three hundred years as a frog by day and himself by night, is enough to test any man’s patience–even if Phillip knows he deserved Petunia’s curse. It certainly taught him not to mess around when it comes to making promises. And stubborn, proud Zuri is a woman he’d like to promise his heart and everything else to–if only he weren’t a sometimes-frog. Can he hope for True Love’s Kiss from a woman whose trust has been so thoroughly broken?

Review

I’m so glad I continued with this series despite not loving the first book, because Men Are Frogs was so sweet.

After disgracing her name as a wedding planner after unknowingly falling for one of her grooms, Zuri needs a fresh start. Three hundred years ago, in revenge for two-timing her and her sister, Petunia cursed Prince Phillip to be a frog. She’s since forgiven him, but she can’t lift the curse herself. But maybe, by hiring Zuri, maybe she can help them both.

I fell in love with the world-building in Fairy Godmothers, Inc., but I was still a little skeptical going into Men Are Frogs. However, Phillip and Zuri’s slow-burn relationship really turned this series around for me. Their chemistry and character development throughout were great. Zuri was a great heroine, and the narrator did such a good job at bringing her to life. I love a good redemption arc, I enjoyed following along with Phillip as he learned his lesson.

I also loved the friendships. Zuri and Zeva’s sister relationship was tender but also fun, and Phillip and Hunter’s friendship was a great bromance. As with Fairy Godmothers, Inc., there are plenty of hints at future romantic relationships. I’m particularly intrigued by Ravenna’s potential story, especially since she ended up being one of my second favorite side characters in the book. My first, though, was Phillip’s Castle, which had a personality of its own and sometimes caused havoc, which was endlessly entertaining.

The whole series is like Disney for adults, so I can’t help but love it. I can’t wait to see what else Ever After has in store.

My Rating: 4 Teapots
