Daniel somehow managed to be charming and completely down to Earth while also exuding pure sex. It was the most baffling combination. And one I wasn’t capable of refusing.

Plot Summary

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

Review

Part of Your World was my first book by Abby Jimenez, and now I have to go back and read her back catalog because I loved every minute of this.

Alexis is a city girl through and through. She’s wealthy, sophisticated, and has a successful career as an ER doctor. So when she meets Daniel, a small-town mayor, after getting into some car trouble, you’d think they were complete opposites—and they are. But they also have undeniable chemistry.

However, a relationship is impossible. Alexis’ parents want her to carry on the family legacy at their hospital, and Daniel would never leave his small, tight-knit town. But she can’t help going back to visit every chance she gets because though her life looks ideal from the outside, she’s missing something. True happiness.

I truly adored this book. But, when a book has so many Disney references and mentions a goat in pajamas within the first 5% of the book, how can I not fall in love? It also doesn’t hurt when the man in charge of caring for said goat in pajamas is tall and has a beard and tattoos. Daniel is swoony, charming, generous, and kind—basically, he’s one of my favorite book love interests, and I understand entirely why Alexis couldn’t keep away.

Alexis and Daniel’s off-the-charts chemistry was a definite high point of this book, and the fact that he fell for her in the very beginning made my heart melt. Watching Alexis grow in her independence was another high point. She had so much to unpack with her abusive relationships, and Jimenez did a fantastic job at handling that tough subject with care.

Part of Your World is a perfect mix of humor, sexiness, and emotional depth. Once I hit the 1/4 mark, I didn’t want to put the book down. I laughed and cried, and my heart literally ached for Alexis and Daniel. I definitely recommend reading this.
