“Sir?” Connor’s one-word question cut through the noise like a lifeline. A ray of sunshine that sliced through the tempest-tossed sea of chaos threatening to drown Theo.

Summary

Theo Moreau never wanted to be involved with politics.

When his mother wins the presidential election, he reluctantly agrees to tag along for his younger siblings. Nothing could have prepared him to juggle his anxiety, complex family dynamics, and the complicated world of the White House. Lacking supportive friends and family, he leans on his steadfast Secret Service agent as tensions rise across the divisive political landscape and the dangers of being close to the president come to the surface.

Agent Connor O’Brien always wanted to be a hero.

Working on the protective detail for the First Family seems like the perfect opportunity to become just that. What he isn’t expecting is to fall head over heels for the man under his protection. As their relationship blossoms, the foundation of the administration grows more unstable and the chatter from America’s right-wing demographic rises to a fever pitch. But when Theo becomes the target of their campaign, the stakes get even higher.

Unsure of who to trust, and with little help from the President, Theo and Connor join forces with their motley group of friends to unravel the mystery of who is working against them from inside the White House before the situation turns explosive. As the sinister reach of this masked shadow spreads, Theo and Connor grow even closer and the magnitude of everything they risk losing propels them into a race against the nefarious mastermind, desperately clinging to the hope they’ve found in one another before their dream come true turns into a nightmare.

Review

This. Book.

Red, White & Royal Blue is my favorite book, so when Jay described Whisper into the Night as RWRB meets the bodyguard, I knew I had to read it. And let me tell you, this book single handedly cured my three month long reading slump.

Leigh drops you into a world of political intrigue and romance that immediately grabs your attention and doesn’t let go until the last page. Between the expertly developed characters, fresh takes on storytelling, and unexpected political twists and turns, I spent too many nights in a row staying up far too late because I was unable to stop reading. The relationship between Theo and Connor is both hot and tender. The multiple POVs, which I initially thought would be too daunting, end up creating a rich world in a way I could have never expected.

Reading Whisper into the Night gave me the same feeling I get when I reread a comfort read for the nth time. Despite never having met the characters before, they felt familiar and safe. Theo and Connor are obviously the stars of the show, but I loved every member of the Rainbow Brigade, and I can’t wait to see them again in book 2.

From the Author

Whisper into the Night came to life through a mixture of intricate beat sheets, discovery writing, determination, and inspiration. The works of Tal Bauer and a plethora of political thriller movies were the core of the novel’s first spark, and as the work came to life, page by page, the character’s themselves started filling in the gaps. By the time the words “The End” happened, each of them had become their own unique entity with their own story to tell. As the initial seed took root and began to grow, so too did the scope and scale of the series. Whisper into the Night started as a concept, but the Rainbow Brigade is what brought the story to life, and that motley crew of characters is what promises to propel it forward.

Sneak Peek Snippet of Chapter One

CHAPTER ONE

Inauguration Day started early, the end of the marathon still a distant dream. Things in the White House had devolved into a standoff at high noon as the trio of First Children stood opposite a cadre of Secret Service agents. The atmosphere bristled with hair-trigger tension, and Theodore Moreau had run low on energy and patience, which meant his younger siblings Tobias and Annalise were likewise done with the day. Blood loyalty ran deep in the children of President Adelaide Montgomery, and the younger two were looking to Theo for his first move. It would be the moment that would define the next four years of their new life in the People’s House they now called home, but he lost the advantage when a dirty blond bear of a man stepped toward the invisible line in the sand.

“Miss, misters. I’m Agent Connor O’Brien. On behalf of your security detail, allow me to welcome y’all home.” Shots fired; it was a low blow sending the eye candy to parley, especially when that voice dripped with a honeyed Southern drawl.

“Call me Theo. This is Toby and Anna. And this isn’t our home.” He crossed his arms over his chest.
